Still looking for a better photo to show the Gunner's pouch.
If you look and click on the photo you can see it mounted
on the left side of the cradle. No date on photo, but probably
pre 1930.

60. Gunner's pouch. - A leather gunner's pouch is at present under development. It is contemplated that this pouch will be designed so that it can be strapped in rear of feedway on the right side of the cradle. Two short straps buckle around the left side of the cradle and a long strap passes directly through the cradle toward the right and than around the back of the elevating screw bushing. Care should be taken to see that the pouch is strapped sufficiently to the rear, so that it does not interfere with the belt entering the feedway. The pouch should carry at all times the clearing plug, combination tool, small oil can, 5-inch pliers, cleaning patches, and asbestos packing.

Both of the TR's above came out in 1925. The pouches can be see in 1917/1918 photos. They were already mounted on the tripod in these early photos. The pouch must have gotten in the way ,and the tripod was a much better location. Also the TR mentions it on the right side clear of the belt entering the feedway. This seems to be a typo, and should say left. The second photo above shows it on the right side mounted on the newly developed 1917A1 cradle.
